About Jess

How my journey began…

A year after I graduated high school, I started massage school in May of 2010 with a push from my mom. She told me to choose between going to work or going to school and I chose school since I thought it was the better option. Massage school was my second choice and I wasn’t exactly sure what prompted me to choose it other than the fact that it sounded like a cool thing to do.

Eventually, It turned into something more than just applying therapeutic touch to people. I became passionate about injuries, helping people improve their posture, teaching people how to take care of their bodies with tools such as foam rollers, rubber balls, and more. My Yoga teacher training allowed me to connect more with the breath and remind massage clients to do it too, both as meditation when they’re not in the office and during the session.

In 2020 and 2021, I took a well needed break. Although massage therapy is a wondeRFUL skill, I felt burnt out from this physically taxing profession that underpays and overworks the majority of massage therapists.

During my hiatus, I learned about Ayurveda (and I’m still learning) and Wellness/ life coaching which expanded my knowledge of the spiritual aspects of Yoga. Ayurveda, not only allowed me to learn more about my own body and emotions and what I needed to stay in balance but increased my compassion for others and for myself as I helped people along their journey. I learned about my limitations with massage and how it wasn’t my responsibILITY to “fix clients” (which is a common request I hear from clients every now and then). It was my RESPONSIBILITY to hold space and guide people to be their best selves and encourage them that it’s their respONSIBILITY TO take care of themselves and all they need is support and information about how to do that.

I’m currently working at a physical therapy office and prenatal massage practice and these places are what inspire me to continue practicing massage. I also offer coaching as an extension of my massage therapy practice.

If you’re feeling a little bit stuck physically and emotionally, I invite you to schedule a session with me that peaks your interest and resonates with you. I look forward to connecting with you!

Love & Light,

Jess
